The New Collectives at the Egg!
THE COMPANY:
The New Collectives is New York based theatre and film collective. We gather stories, ideas, and inspiration. We find individuals with wildly different talents. We collect it all together, connect the dots, and create something new that runs beautifully.
Our mission is to create new, intimate, and innovative works drawing inspiration from classic plays, develop contemporary work, and cultivate an environment for educational growth with ourselves and the local community.
We began to take shape in February 2014 while working onThe Witches, a four person adaptation of Macbeth. After a successful workshop production in August 2014, Giverny Petitmermet, Dan Morrison, Sarah Moore and Mara Gannon decided to make their collaboration official & The New Collectives were formed in January 2015. In July 2015, The New Collectives ran a successful week long Shakespeare summer camp in Brooklyn, forming our education branch, The Young Collectives. Helmed by Education Director Erin Maxon & Education Associate Julia Levine, The Young Collectives has expanded its education programing to include teaching artist workshops, in school workshops & holiday Shakespeare camps, in addition to our Shakespeare summer camps. In October 2015, after reworking the script & expanding the cast to 6, The New Collectives, in association with Wandering Bark Theatre Company, produced a full production of The Witches, at The Access Theatre in NYC. The production was met with rave reviews – “a striking production that tickles the horror-lover in us all.” (Theater in the Now) – and full houses. We are thrilled to be bringing the world premiere of Sam Gooley’s Steve Got Raped. to the Fringe Festival! For more information visit

PROJECT WORKED ON AT DRAGON’S EGG:
The New Collectives is proud to present the world premiere of STEVE GOT RAPED. as part of the 20th annual New York International Fringe Festival – FringeNYC.
Engaged and expecting their first child, Steve and Katie think they are on the right track. However, when a shocking event happens during Steve’s bachelor party, the couple’s lives start to veer off course.
With Sam Gooley’s new dark comedy, The New Collectives strive to open a conversation about consent, monogamy, and societal expectations. As a young company composed of individuals bridging the gap between Generation Y and Millennial, these are relevant issues to our time. This play is a story of our generation’s anxieties about sex, maturity, and settling; showcasing a generation standing on the precipice of adulthood and igniting in all of us the question: Am I ready for what comes next?
