Zumba for Dragon’s Egg

Zumba: A fun, easy-to-follow dance/fitness class that is appropriate for all ages, at any fitness or skill level. In this modified barefoot class, we will be using less intense moves, but working with balance, flexibility and cardiovascular strength, all to great Latin and International Rhythms.
About me: Monica Bengtson is AFAA certified and has been a Zumba Instructor since 2010. She teaches Zumba Gold and Zumba Gold Toning in Southeastern Ct. and Rhode Island.

Contemporary Technique

The joy of moving is what we will focus on as we explore full-bodied, fluid and vigorous dancing. Class includes structured phrases to warm up, leading to longer sequences in center and across the floor. Some previous dance experience recommended.
Chloe Carlson shares her lifelong passion for dancing through teaching, choreographing and performing. Currently, she works with New Haven-based Elm City Dance Collective, and as a solo artist and collaborator under her recently launched GUSTO Dance Project.

Modern Dance

Modern dance class with Christine Poland – this class will begin with center barre work focusing on warming up the body for movement across the floor and fun combinations. Christine uses exercises from Limon, Horton, Graham and Bartenieff fundamentals.
Christine Poland dancer and choreographer from North Stonington, and is on faculty at KIKS Dance Center and Legein Dance Academy. She is former founder and director of Rocha Dance Theater, and is starting a dance company locally: Mystic Moves Dance Theater.

Molly Murkett Bruno began her love affair with dance, music and yoga as a child, and has been teaching workshops and classes for 3 years. Her passions include cooking, reading, and traveling.

Ann Watkins, with a Masters in Dance Movement Therapy and as the owner of New Harmony Therapeutic Massage and Somatic Body Work since 1988, is passionate about sharing the experience of moving with ease in our bodies through original movement forms and body work.

African Dance

Join us for a high energy class in traditional West African dance from the country of GUINEA, led by Ashley Jones and accompanied by Matthew Dean on live percussion.
Ashley Jones studied under Abdoulaye Sylla, a principal with the National Ballet of GUINEA. With over 20 years experience in this dynamic form, Ashley brings patience & positive reinforcement to the root of her teaching.
