Dance Sampler at the Egg Presents: African Dance!

Join Ashley Jones and live drummers for a fun West African dance class. No experience necessary. Women wear a skirt with leggings or shorts underneath if you like.

Ashley joins us under the aegis and recommendation of Amy Zezulka, beloved teacher of African Dance these past few years, and owner of Mystic Yoga Shala.

Ashley Jones trained in traditional Guinean dance under former principal to Les Ballets Africains (the National Ballet of Guinea) and Artistic Director of Les Mervielle D’Afrique, Abdoulaye Sylla.  She toured New England as a dancer in Abdoulaye’s company ‘Fotoba’ for two years. After 17 years of study and performance Ashley has decided to apply her knowledge by teaching this energetic and passionate dance form. At the root of her teaching is her desire to engage and encourage all her students in their experience and to foster an appreciation and understanding of the the dance and percussion of Guinea, West Afica.
